Are Second Life Clubs Dead?
It’s long been generally accepted that Second Life clubs are simply dead. I don’t really go clubbing so much myself so I tended to pay little attention. However, when a friend of mine was complaining last night that (and I quote) “Every single club I have teleported into has been shit and almost empty,” I began to wonder….
A quick look on any of the Second Life jobs type forums tells you that clubs are continually hiring – every role from strippers to managers and then some. So there are no shortage of vacancies working in clubs – just a huge shortage of punters to go around them, it seems.
The few occasions I have been to Second Life clubs in the past few months, there have been more staff in the venue than people there partying. Concerning, don’t you think? How many staff do they need to run a 2 hour event? 2 hostesses, four dancers, a DJ a club manager… and only three people at the event. But maybe I am being unfair. Maybe there are good clubs in world, that attract some great crowds, hold original events (‘best in random colour’ is shit, unimaginative and really overdone).
Anyone know of any?!

I walk past the Shemale Sex Palace in Zindra on my way to church and it seems pretty busy.
I don’t know what punters are but I am going to start spelling color like that so people think I am a world traveler.

Bubblegum Music Club has quite a following. They do the generic “best in color” but they also do themes, like ’70s night, have halloween costume contests, and sometimes they even change the appearance of the club to fit the theme. They usually have one hostess and one dj, and they usually get around to playing requests. I’ve seen 20-25 people at events. Some people wear the craziest costumes, it’s worth going just to see what people will wear. :>)

I find clubs in the generic sense are dead. Rather now, we have communities that have developed and the members of these communities hold events that include dances on a regular basis. They hang with people they know, week after week but attract few new members. To actually go hopping from club to club I gave up ages ago. Serious, anyone can stream a tune. I want more. Live acts, or the company of friends.

i haven’t been clubbing since i quite Djing (almost a year ago) and i so don’t miss it! I have more fun hanging with friend’s and BSing then i do at random clubs with shit DJs and a wannabe elite crowd.
I think we should hang at the shamle club with Adric, he seems to have the right idea there!

I’m with Bubbles. Why go to a club when you can stream your own favourite music into your parcel and chill with your peeps?
At least on your own parcel you aren’t raped for tips either…
“Tip The Venue”
“Tip The DJ”
“Tip The Hostess”
“Tip the Valet” <– really? How about just picking up your car and putting it in your damned inventory…
How fucking desperate do you have to be to pull up to a pixel club, in your pixel sports car and pay a pixel valet to edit your car into a parking spot?
Le sigh…
