Hi guys!

I’ve just installed a new plugin (well, yesterday)! It’s called CommentLuv and for those who haven’t heard about it, here’s just a rundown of what it does.

When you leave a comment on this blog and you include your blog’s URL, while you’re filling out the comment field, it will fetch the name of your most recent post and it will post a link along with your comment to that post, as well as your standard blog link. The main advantage is that these links are do-follow and having the nameof a recent post could potentially generate referrals from this blog too.

I’ve long loved CommentLuv. The team behind it really had a great idea with this. I will be adding the Twitter plugin by the same people soon too, that enables commenters to leave their Twitter ID as well. Yes,I’m embracing social media!

As ever, the same comment policy applies. I don’t hold for moderation first as I do believe in freedom of speech. However, I reserve the right to go back in later on and remove anything that is spammy. People keep calling themselves vicodin and posting comments here. If your Mother gave you a name like “vicodin,” you want to get off your computer and go get help ;-) )

Ah the joy of spammers.

  • I’ve been using CommentLuv for a long time, and because I’m a do-follow blog too, I do see a ton of automated spam but also people who seems to be hired to gain backlinks for certain commercial sites – luckily Akismet blocks most of it for me.

Are *all* CommentLuv links dofollow per default? I don’t think so, but it sounds like it the way you describe CommentLuv.

  • Hi Klaus,

As I understand it, most blogs powered by WordPress will have no-follow by default on the name field link (as do I) and no follow on the in comment links, as I have. But any links that are created thruogh the CommentLuv plugin are do follow by default… I’m sure some people switch the following off though lol!

Thanks for leaving a comment Klaus!

  • I’ve “always” used the “nofollow case by case” plugin to give dofollow links on the name and CommentLuv as well (I don’t really know if my in-comment links are dofollow, I think they might be). Maybe I should consider doing like you and offer only CommentLuv as dofollow, maybe that will cut down on all the keywords that people tend to use as their name.

  • PS: It’s too bad you don’t have a “subscribe to comments”-plugin, so commenters can receive an e-mail if/when you reply to their comment.

  • I have just installed commentLuv and found it easy to do and getting some good feedback- Grant

Well, I guess that getting a tons of spam and traffic on post aren’t too bad for there’s a greater quality that commentluv do offer. It’s somehow forgivable compared to some plug-ins who does worst compared to this.

  • Hello. I wanted to give you a note to verbalize my thankfulness. I have been watching your blog posts for a month and have got a ton of excellent tips and appreciated the way you have built your web site. I’m going to make my blog however I feel it is too general and I need to concentrate more on particular issues.
