I had to share this, it’s one of the best Second Life machinima productions I’ve seen for a while… stunningly well done.
This was produced by Spyvspy Aeon.
I’ve long been a fan of the Second Life machinima work of rockerfaerie (Second Life’s ColeMarie Soleil). More recently, I have come to know of the music of SL musician, Skye Galaxy, who (in my opinion) has an absolutely amazing voice. His covers are phenomenal and his originals even better.
So you can imagine I was a very, very happy chappie when I came across rockerfaerie’s new video, which has taken Skye’s song. ‘Better Left Unsaid.’ The video is incredibly artistic, the version of the song is beautiful and all around this might just have become a new favourite of mine.
If you want to see the original version of that song (you do, trust me), check it out here.
I stopped picking up random full perms crap after about 6 months in game. I became way too “cool” for such bollocks and instead turned my attention to paying too much for non-full perms items that weren’t anywhere near as much fun. That’s how you can tell when you transition from newbie, I am told…. when you start spending too much and getting less fun out of your inventory.
However, recently I have started picking up random full perms crap again. Perhaps I’m having an SL-old age crisis? But anyway…. I spent an hour with a complete random newbie last weekend and ended up with some of my new favourite random stuff in world.
Wanna see my maracas????
Maracas are made by Gonzo Shan and I have a copy full perms in my inventory. IM me if you want to be as completely cool and sexy as I look in that video.
Yes, I know… I’m impossible to resist when I shake my hips in such a manner. Calm down, ladies.
There is no shortage of amazing Second Life machinima around. I’m a huge fan of some of the more creative stuff out there and have tried my hand at some (rather amateur) stuff myself. It’s an amazing form of creative expression and makes for endless hours of Youtube fun. For anyone who hasn’t seen much of it… here are my 5 personal favourites:-
1. Dreamwalking by Colemarie Soleil (rockerfaerie on Youtube)
Amazing camera work, beautiful editing ana perfect choice of music. This is one of my all time favourites and, in my opinion, one of the very talented Rockerfaerie’s finest. See her work here: http://www.youtube.com/user/rockerfaerie
2. Embryo by Pyewacket Bellman (Nitwacket on Youtube).
I first came across Pyewacket’s work about a year ago and was stunned. Her machinima is incredible and it was difficult to pick a favourite. But I think this one just about does it for me. Check all her work out here: http://www.youtube.com/user/Nitwacket
3. Watch the World by Robbie Dingo
This is the very first machinima I ever saw that made my jaw hit my computer desk. Stunning. I was fortunate enough to see the sim that is shown being built here. Though it was not up for long, as it really was put together primarily for the purpose of the machinima. The technical work that has gone into this is immense and the final product is incredible. This is hosted now by Share Festival and, for some reason, is no longer on Robbie Dingo’s channel. Though, his other work is there and you can check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/user/RobbieDingo
4. Wish For You by Chantal Harvey
I could not possibly post this beautiful machinima without also crediting the stunning song, by Grace McDunnough. Eloquently and gracefully put together, another stunning example of Second Life machinima. Chantal’s work is absolutely amazing. Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/user/ChantalHarvey
5. Push by Lainy Voom
Last, but by no means least, this video makes me say “wow” out loud every single time I watch it. And I’ve watched it a lot. It is, by far, the most wonderfully surreal Second Life machinima I have come across, completely abstract and amazingly well put together. Check her stuff out: http://www.youtube.com/user/tracechops
And these 5 only just scratch the surface. If I were to list every single machinima I love, I would be here a long time. If you have not already done so, I heartily recommend a hunt on Youtube for some of the finest stuff on there. It’s jaw droppingly amazing, what some people can do.
It’s Sunday. Sunday means time dedicated to my beloved Second Life blog and random machinima. Ok, so I don’t machinima every Sunday. I am far too lazy for that. But today I did.
I bought a costume around Halloween time which was an evil clown time costume. The creator was Cutea Benelli and the avatar is just awesome, so I figured I would feature that in my random videoness. The avatar is available from grim Bros here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Clematis%20Island/117/42/22/
I filmed this on Cheshire, an Alice in Wonderland Themed sim. I used only one part of the sim and the whole thing is well worth visiting. It’s one of the best places in Second Life I have come across in quite some time. Visit that here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Cheshire/177/152/753
As for the music, well I downloaded that from Jamendo (Creative Commons). The song used is called ‘L’arrivée’ and was composed by Ehma. The entire album (and many other Ehma albums) can be downloaded from Jamendo. http://www.jamendo.com/en/album/94
Et voila.
8 months on and Pixel Scoop sent Skylar Smythe along to see how SLOcto Mom is getting on.
Please note that no prim babies were harmed during the production of this report. Actually, that’s a lie. Let me rephrase, only 3 prim babies were harmed during the production of this report. But they’re copiable, so really it’s no big deal.
Who and what did we use for this Second Life spoof?
Pixel Scoop Reporter – Skylar Smythe
SLOcto Mom, Breda Lott – Lisa Launay
Pixel Do-Gooder, Sandra Beamont – Bubbles Komachi
Written and mediocrely machinima-ed by Josue Habana
Vampire, gangster, SLoctuplets and robot babies created by Beasil Roundfield and available by clicking here.
Filmed largely at the Missing Mile Trailer Park in Second Life, a very cool location owned by Loch Newchurch. Click here to visit in world.
Thank you! I’m a member of Second life, but up to now, have not found any use for it in my writing career. I went to book island but there was nothing much there, and I couldn’t afford to rent a shop, being a complete newbie.
I life in the UK, and I – like many others – don’t have the opportunity to do readings in the same way that American authors do, and I think that SL would be a great place to organize something like that, if only I had the first clue as to how.
I don’t write poetry myself, but I will certainly post this on the Erotic Authors’ Association site to see if the erotic poets there are interested – I’ll also let the people on my Livejournal flist know about it, as I’m sure there are SLifers there who would be interested.
I would dearly love to arrange a reading of my erotic gay historical books, would you be able to give me any advice as to how to go around to doing that?
Thank you for letting me know about this.

Skylar Smythe, Second Life resident and poet extraordinaire, wows us with her words on a regular basis!
But is there more to Miss Smythe than meets the eye?
Sorry, Sky. Couldn’t resist!!
Once upon a time in a virtual world, an avatar named Skylar Smythe decided that she could outdrink a youthful seasoned British binge drinker.
Unfortunately, Skylar (poor Skylar) could not quite keep up.
Sleep well, Sky
